Currently emergency food aid is oftentimes provided in the form of a starch, salt, oil, and water. This does not contain any required micronutrients needed to prevent malnutrition for longer periods of time. Manna aims to provide the solution to this problem. It contains minimum daily quantities for most micronutrients required and can be incorporated with food aid already provided. The nutrients provided cover the essential vitamins, minerals, & amino-acids as well as providing fibre.
Food aid also currently often does not conform to local cuisine. Manna is meant to be mixed with a starch and be made into locally known recipes of staple foods. Think for example of Ugali or Tô or different types of flatbread.
Manna also aims to fix this problem while being made of natural products and not supplements made in a lab. It is made of natural ingredients and avoids using additives and preservatives. It is made up of dry ingredients, currently these are; Rice Bran, Wheat Bran, Soy Meal, Spinach, Sunflower Seeds, Beef Liver.

Current products are not able to be incorporated with existing provisions and are often not made with natural products. Manna’s aim is to also be possibly incorporated with a local starch and made into local staples.

Manna is also made of natural ingredients. This reduces the need for non-natural supplements to provide the essential nutrients.

Further development would include further work to the recipe to: reduce costs; include more essential nutrients in minimum quantities; find better ingredient options; etc.

To increase the impact of Manna it would require further development and increased awareness to the issue and increased work on providing minimal nutrition for everyone.
