Yes, we have validated our idea by gathering feedback and confirmation of interest from both investors and creators, proven by our waiting list and winning the RTSS 2024 pitching competition.

ClipStake is a platform where content creators can raise money from their audience in return for a share of their future ad revenue. This helps them to pre-finance their next video project, produce better content and therefore accelerate their growth.

On the other hand investors get the chance to support their favourite content creators and profit from their success. As a channel grows so does its revenue generating financial returns for the investors. Clipstake differs from conventional fundraising platforms because it is not based on donations but instead on investments. This way we create a win-win situation for both investors and creators.

Problem and Solution:

The primary issue ClipStake addresses is the lack of capital available to content creators for scaling their channels beyond a certain subscriber count, a common barrier observed in the creator economy. ClipStake’s solution tokenizes upcoming content, allowing creators to raise funds in exchange for a share of their future ad revenue. This model is not based on donations but on genuine investments, creating a win-win scenario where creators get the funds they need for growth, and investors get a chance to profit from the channel’s success.

Product Overview:

ClipStake’s core product revolves around a blockchain-based token system. Creators announce upcoming video projects on the platform, making a limited number of tokens available for purchase. These tokens represent ownership of a share of the future ad revenue generated by the channel. Once a video is released and starts generating revenue, a smart contract automatically distributes part of this revenue to token holders on a monthly basis. This process leverages blockchain technology and smart contracts, ensuring transparency, security, and ease of transactions for both creators and investors.

ClipStake targets two main audiences:

1) Content Creators: Small to medium-sized channels seeking financial support to produce better content and scale their operations.

2) Investors: Individuals looking to support their favorite creators and capitalize on their growth by sharing in their ad revenue.

The benefits for these groups are clear: creators gain access to much-needed capital, and investors have a unique opportunity to engage with and profit from the creator economy.

Our use of blockchain technology opens up a new opportunity by transforming content creation into an investable asset. Unlike platforms like conventional fundraising platforms like Patreon that purely rely on donations, ClipStake allows users to invest in creators through token purchases, linking these tokens to future ad revenue. This creates a win-win situation: creators get the necessary funds to pre-finance their content, and investors share in the financial success by receiving monthly dividends from the ad-revenue of the content. By building a community where creators and investors thrive together, ClipStake leverages smart contracts (on the blockchain) to ensure seamless, transparent transactions, fostering mutual growth. This innovative model, combined with our first-mover advantage and plans to expand beyond YouTube to platforms like TikTok and Reels, positions ClipStake to reshape the future of content creation.

Wat zijn jouw volgende stappen om het verder te ontwikkelen? / What are your next steps to develop the initiative?

ClipStake has its MVP ready, and currently have around 100 investors on the waitlist, ready to test our platform. We are currently working closely with lawyers to work on the legal side of ClipStake. Our next step would be fund-raising in order to finance our small scale launch and beta testing.

The impact we want to make is to empower upcoming creators to make a living for themselves online and turn their dreams of being creators into reality. To achieve this, we need access to funding to ensure a scalable platform that can reach and support more creators. We also need to spread the word about ClipStake and gain visibility to connect with the creators who need us most. Finally, by signing up for our waitlist, you help us demonstrate demand to VCs and other investors, convincing them to support our vision and make ClipStake a reality.
