Time for some facts: The world has way too many garments, enough for the upcoming 6 generations. And more than that, the ones that end up thrown away, only get recycled 1% of the time. As a company we would want to stop or delay the garments in the world from ever ending up in the landfill.

Our persona is one that lacks skill to create or accessorize their own clothing, but they still want to look unique on a day-to-day basis. Our persona also has a strong sense of sustainability and wants to create one-of-a-kind outfits that showcase their style creating as little waste as possible in a budget-friendly way.

Our persona is also frustrated that fashion nowadays dictates the norm on what type of bodies clothing should fit and creates templates that are often hard to follow or simply unrealistic. So what if it could be the other way around, where clothing follows your needs and your form?

But what are we doing to provide a solution to this multi-sided problem? We take the damaged clothing, cut out the usable parts, make the edges neat after which we apply our patentable mechanism onto the modules and that is the entire process and our user can already use it. Our solution empowers anyone to attach any two textile pieces together without ever having to know how to sew and opens up the possibility to create clothing that fits them perfectly and exactly in the way that they want.

At Clip&Wear we want to empower people to showcase their style and unique personality in a sustainable way and show that there is a way around fast fashion.

Wat is er anders/nieuw aan jouw idee/oplossing t.o.v. bestaande oplossingen? / What is different/new about your idea/solution compared to existing solutions??

While most existing textile solutions focus on recycling, projects like the T-REX European initiative reveal that this process demands high energy and resources. Upcycling brands, on the other hand, often offer rigid, stylized products at premium prices, catering to a narrow audience and lacking scalability due to their labor-intensive processes.

Clip&Wear offers a fundamentally different approach: a low-resource, scalable system that empowers users with a DIY, modular mindset. Like LEGO for clothing and IKEA for fashion, it enables anyone to mix, match, and reconfigure salvaged fabric modules without sewing. Instead of dictating style, it lets users adapt and evolve their wardrobe on their terms, drastically reducing waste and streamlining production by shifting final assembly to the wearer. And as the cherry on top, people no longer have to buy separate garments for separate functions, they can now alter their clothing based on the functions needed and the current trending style.

Wat zijn jouw volgende stappen om het verder te ontwikkelen? / What are your next steps to develop the initiative?

Current Stage & Next Steps

Clip&Wear is currently in the development phase, where I am actively gathering user feedback and expert insights to refine the concept through rapid, iterative prototyping. This process is helping to shape a product that is both user-friendly and impactful.

Over the summer, my focus will shift to two key objectives:

  1. Building a strong media presence to raise awareness, attract early adopters, and communicate the unique value of the concept.
  2. Developing a series of proof-of-concept prototypes that demonstrate the system’s versatility and scalability, paving the way for real-world testing.

In August, I plan to officially register Clip&Wear as an eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship) to enable pilot sales and initial pre-orders. This will allow me to test the logistics, validate the market demand, and gather early revenue data, critical steps toward scaling the business sustainably.

Wat heb je nodig om (nog meer) impact te maken met dit initiatief? / What do you need to make (more) impact with this initiative?

To create meaningful impact with Clip&Wear, the most critical need is visibility. Widespread awareness of the concept is essential to spark curiosity, drive adoption, and generate word-of-mouth momentum. Once people understand the flexibility and sustainability of the system, theyre more likely to reference it, recommend it, and incorporate it into their own fashion choices.

To accelerate this process, I need support in building a targeted outreach strategy, including:

  • Strategic communication and storytelling tools to clearly convey the vision and usability of the product,
  • Partnerships with communities, makers, and sustainable fashion platforms to reach early adopters,
  • And funding for media production and pilot campaigns to showcase real-life use cases.

With these tools, Clip&Wear can move from a promising concept to a recognizable and shareable movement.
